DA Polyshipping exchange 2023
Sep. 9th, 2023 05:53 pmThank you for writing for me! If you are drawing, just make sure not to include those DNW that would apply to a visual medium and feel free to take inspiration from the prompts I offer. Illustrations or comics or portraits are all good. I very much enjoy some symbolism in art but don't feel bound by that.
Please never consider my prompts as "must do", they're there in case you don't have ideas or would like to see what precisely I like about these ships. They're guidelines to make your life easier, not tracks you can't deviate from!
Things I like!
I'm happiest when stories get into some in-depth character exploration. The plot of your story may be minimal (but if you really like plotty stuff, go for it, I love it too), it may be slice of life, small missing moments, I tend to not care as much as long as characterisation and interactions between people offer emotional depth. For smut, the same thing applies: hot action is good, but I like it better when there's something that happens, in an emotional sense, to the characters involved. This doesn't have to be romantic love by any means, I very much enjoy friends with benefits, conflicted feelings, toxic relationships, and the like. For any less wholesome ships, I am totally fine if they don't live happily ever after.
I like: banters between characters, historical attention to details, politics, clashing points of view, complicated relationships, UST, bittersweet endings where not all things are solved neatly. Hope for the future despite everything, moral ambiguity, explored dysfunctionality, love shown through subtlety, love that is not confessed, regret, hard-won redemptions and the distrust that comes with it, power dynamics, characters that won't ever relent in their goals and who feel things strongly and are larger than life. I like the consensual but not safe or sane too, and if you feel like playing with darker themes emotional manipulation is great; loyalty and betrayal themes, rivalries, enmities, even those that aren't entirely solved, and especially those that take a long journey to come to an understanding.
Themes of grief and mourning, trauma and recovery, fate, "the narrative", growing past hurts, but conversely also revenge quests, anger (especially towards gods, doom, the universe), generational and religious trauma, situations where everything is awful, sometimes even people, but the love is still there despite that, love that is deep and fraught and ride-or-die. Grey morality, unreliable points of view, deeply fucked up visions of the world and blind spots, ruthlessness, enthralling personalities, sacrificing things (and people) for one's goals, but also unrelenting, honest, down-to-earth goodness.
I enjoy explorations of social dynamics, especially classism, blind spots in one's worldview, and like I said above, power dynamics. Never worry whether you're making your noble/stableman story too "realistic", I'll always always enjoy how love/friendship or attraction or sex intersects with other life circumstances. I like to see how people move within the trappings of society and/or their beliefs, how they chafe against them or try to escape them, how they hypocritically justify their choices, or push against rules.

If you want a list of my smut likes that is as exhaustive as possible, you can find that here. This entry is very nsfw.
GENERAL DNW
AUs unless requested. • No BIG canon divergencies unless requested. • Crack fic. Fluff fic, kidfic, in general stories focusing on cuteness and domesticity. • Focus on pregnancy or childbirth. • Focus on gender dysphoria. • Character bashing. I am happy with characters disagreeing passionately and having negative opinions of other characters, but don't make them into your mouthpiece. Also don't humiliate or belittle characters gratuitously, especially those of the requested ships. • Focus on excrements, piss, vomit. I'm fine with mentions of unsanitary things, but no focus on it; as in, nothing that is deliberately trying to squick the reader out or is kinking on these fluids. (Blood is perfectly fine.) • Second person writing. • "Educational" fiction. Some of the characters in my requests can be objectively and patently wrong in their beliefs, we all know that, so please when writing a pov that's wrong/prejudiced in some manner don't insert any "and that, kids, was morally a bad thing" in the text. • No writing out of canon-compliant various -isms or -phobias. If a world area or time period is e.g. homophobic, I don't want the struggles of characters who have to live with it written away. However, if such things are not present in a given situation, don't add them in for the sake of it. • A/B/O, genderswap, alien genitalia, m!preg, sex pollen, fake dating, fuck or die tropes. • Maggots, terminal illnesses, feederism and eating disorders, soulmates and hanahaki. • Daddy/mommy kink, de-aging of characters, ageplay and infantilisation, diapers, pet play, feet, enemas and urethral plays, insistence on how large a penis or breasts are, objectification. • Medical play and assorted medical kinks, as well as medical situations utilised to emphasise powerlessness or horror (such as unwilling experiments) unless requested or canon to the ships/story/character. Torture is otherwise ok if warranted. • Underage and non-con between requested characters (dub-con is fine but only if requested or canon). Rape experiences or trauma are fine as background or in the story as long as they're not detailed or the focus (but never between nominated characters unless requested or canon). Incest unless requested or canon (cousins okay). • Any variation of the word "come" spelled as "cum". • No X character is secretly a bastard of Y character unless requested or canon (relatedly, no non-canon cheating on a spouse). • Denial of structural power imbalances even/especially in positive and/or consensual relationships. • When a character has a canon love interest but I request a ship with someone else, please acknowledge the love interest/spouse and do not bash them or say the requested character hates them now.
DRAGON AGE DNW
Secret half-elven parentage for characters for whom it isn't canon. • Half elves having obviously elven traits, the Dalish presented as a monolith culture that agrees on everything. • Unquestioned or endorsed national stereotypes on the part of the author (e.g. Fereldans are always honest and good, Orlesians are always deceitful). • Stories set in Tevinter where all the "good guys" are foreign and all the "bad guys" are local; relatedly, stories where the point of the narrative is that enlightened and cultured foreigners bring wisdom and civilisation to the backwards/helpless/uncivilised/evil locals. • Bashing Anora, fem!Cousland married to/shipped with Alistair, Alistair ruling alone. • The Chantry depicted as unquestionably right. • Focus on Cullen; any ships involving him and a mage, even in the background (templar/mage ships are fine and can fall under requested dub-con. I just don't want this one in particular). • Adoribull mentions. • Miriam/Hira as endgame. • Switching DA:I advisors with another character (e.g. Morrigan with Merrill) unless requested. • Preference for canon backgrounds for PCs and no canon-breaking PCs (e.g. the Inquisitor becomes Divine) unless requested. • If writing a PC, please give them a name and don't refer to them generically only by surname. Even default names are fine, just make them an actual person, i.e. no blank slate/default PCs. • Anders written as if Justice never turned into Vengeance/there was no symbiotic and, by the end, difficult and destructive relationship between them.
Preferences and state of the world: What I really don't want to read is in my Dragon Age DNW, so you can consider other things free game. I'm purposely not adding notes on any of the PCs, since I find it personally really difficult to fulfill someone else's expectations with OCs and always go with my version of things; so feel 200% entitled to exercise the same freedom. I have a playthrough for almost every possible iteration of the worldstate, chances are that I have at least a game where your canon matches with mine.
OCs and adding characters: I love some OCs and to see the world populated. If you're writing a specific relationship and think it'd be great to throw in other people who would live and act around them, both original and canon, that sounds great to me. You're also free to mix requests if you want, if they lend themselves to it. Usually I just care that the nominated relationship takes centre stage, but the more the merrier. I only ask not to put emphasis on unrequested PC romances, though you're good to mention them as long as my DNWs are respected.
Prompts!
- Anders/Female or Male Hawke/Karl Thekla, Anders/Female or Male Hawke/Justice
OKAY, so this was mostly me thinking that if Karl survived, it'd be absolutely neat. How would an old love intersect with a new one? But also... how does it feel like to love someone who has essentially a different being within him, that sometimes is separate but sometimes isn't... entirely? How does Justice interact with Anders when his love life is concerned? Justice doesn't need to be involved in the Karl prompt, but obviously he's present no matter what, and that would be cool to explore in all its nuances and problems, especially when Justice is Vengeance. I'm down with Tranquility plots, or plots where Karl is momentarily cured every time Justice appears and does that fade explosion moment. Could they figure out the Tranquility cure? AUs where Karl was never Tranquil are also fine. Does Anders, in act 3, tell Karl what he plans to do or does he know nothing just like Hawke? What of the aftermath?
- Female Hawke/Jean-Marc Stroud/Loghain Mac Tir, Female Hawke/Merrill/Orsino
And listen I know Orsino/Hawke is probably entirely based on that one flirt about dancing naked under the moon and Orsino replying a little cheekily to it, but I admit I'm mostly here for the angst and Hawke getting to tap an older silver fox. And I think a Hawke in a relationship with Merrill could add another cool layer about the intersection of magic, being elven, being an apostate or in a circle. Orsino is a very tragic character trying to work within the limits that the Circle and the nobility of Kirkwall have placed around him, all the while denying to himself that this is going to end with the mages' death no matter what. Plus, he entertained a correspondence with Quentin, who ended up killing Hawke's mom. And Merrill is a blood mage too. So... honestly, go wild. I'm also open to Orsino surviving Act 3, you know, the whole "Varric made up the Harvester actually". That could be juicy, especially with the three of them leaving Kirkwall.
- Female Adaar/Josephine Montilyet/Shokrakar
So what if Adaar was in a relationship with Shokrakar before coming to the Inquisition, and once there also develops feelings for Josephine? How would the two mercenaries navigate this situation, and would Shokrakar maybe come to the Inquisition? What are Josie's feelings about this? This is a ship that mostly called to me for the aesthetics tbh so I'm open to many interpretations.
- Female Adaar or Trevelyan/Blackwall/Josephine Montilyet
For Blackwall and Josie, I love their little courting game; I know Josephine says it wasn't meant to go anywhere and it's a little courtly romance, but does anything change if Trev/Adaar is romancing either? How does this addition shake things up? Maybe the courtly game moves into more serious territory, with feelings, or maybe it remains a very peculiar chaste involvement, even though the Inquisitor is in a relationship with both/either. I'm also interested in how this might change post-revelation, or even afterwards, during Trespasser.
The version with Adaar interests me also particularly because Adaar is part of a mercenary band, and for that reason potentially understands what Blackwall did and why.

- Female Adaar or Male Trevelyan/the Iron Bull/Vivienne
Bull and Vivienne have a very cool relationship, and they both read people; I would like to see how throwing in Trev or Adaar would change up the dynamic. Viv could be a domme for Bull, so how does the third person fit into this? Bull after all offers an escape from power and duty by "letting go" with the Inquisitor, and Vivienne embodies the want of power and holding onto ambition. How do these things interact? What kind of dynamics develop? Do Bull and the Inquisitor have a sexual relationship with Vivienne at all, or is it just a psychological kind of exploration of their attraction? Is Vivienne going to be the Divine, and how does that play into it all? Does this develop around the Snowy Wyvern heart quest? Feel free to explore any of these. For Adaar I'm also interested in how her Vashoth status interacts with Bull's role as a Qunari (and later Vashoth, if you go that route, which is preferable to me but not necessary). While Viv and Adaar could find some kind of understanding in representing something that people fear and using it to their advantage (a mage, a Qunari-shaped vashoth). Or even embracing it. Anger, ambition, ruthlessness, strength of will, care buried deep within. Could they find kinship there? Please acknowledge that Vivienne loved Bastien in any of these combinations.
- Female or Male Adaar/The Iron Bull/Josephine Montilyet
"Who wouldn't be a little curious" that's right Josie who wouldn't be? It doesn't matter here if Adaar is first in a relationship with Bull or Josie, I just think it'd be interesting if that curiosity Josephine has were satisfied at least once. I also will enjoy this as a true throuple, if you have ideas for that!
- Female Amell or Cousland/Ser Cauthrien/Anora Mac Tir
n
- Donnic Hendyr/Aveline Vallen/Wesley Vallen
This would obviously need to be an AU where Wesley survives. His templar status would make everything very juicy, and welcoming a new partner in the relationship strikes me as a pivotal moment for them. How would that look like? Is Wesley the one that pushes Aveline towards pursuing Donnic since she obviously likes him? Does Wesley too? Normally I'm not into angsting over polyamory situations, but Aveline feels so repressed to me, and I'm not sure that Wesley would be a lot more open, so I'm actually okay here if the getting together part of things and the figuring things out stage is a lot messier than average.
- Female Cousland/Anora Mac Tir/Varel, Female Cousland/Nathaniel Howe/Anora Mac Tir, Female Cousland/Nathaniel Howe/Varel
This is really the same people switched around in various combinations lol. Fem Cous/Nathaniel/Anora could go many directions, I'd love to see the relationship between Nate and Cous develop alongside one with Anora. I think all three could hit it off in interesting and complicated ways. Even an AU where Nate doesn't become a Warden but somehow marries Anora would be interesting. Cousland and Nathaniel obviously have a very heavy history with one another, and Anora could help mediate that, or otherwise somehow balance it, both with her personality and as queen. If you switch Nathaniel with Varel, it becomes a sort of loyalty and vassallage inception, where Cousland is obviously sworn to Anora, and Varel is sworn to Cousland. I envision this as a V with Cousland as the cusp, but you can surprise me with a full throuple if you think it works. As for Cousland/Varel/Nate, the flavours are similar but this time it's probably Varel, who also used to serve Rendon Howe, who is the balancing force. It's a very interesting intersection of histories and loyalties. I really like the idea of Cousland settling into her own after all that mess of the Blight etc and trying to take a hold of things and of the new menace of talking darkspawn, while also finding support in a very loyal and steadfast man and, surprisingly, in the guy who tries to kill her. Whatever your Cousland's personality (ruthless, tired, dry humour, aggressive... whatever calls to you!), I feel like she could find in the other two characters solid support. Plus, of course, the power dynamic and, if it's up your alley, exploring the age difference would
- Fergus Cousland/Nathaniel Howe/Anora Mac Tir, Fergus Cousland/Oriana Cousland/Nathaniel Howe
h
- Alistair/Duncan/Male Cousland
- Zevran Arainai/Male Cousland/Anora Mac Tir
Zevran/Male Cous/Anora in my head is a situation where the Warden and his LI, Zevran here, end up linked to Anora due to political reasons. Male Cousland could marry her and develop attraction, and I feel as though Zevran would be down for a threesome. But would he still be down when he's in love? Maybe this is actually a V relationship with Cousland at the cusp? I'd like to see this throuple explored from the pov of potential understanding between all three, even if it's not easily reached and is mingled with politics, ambition, and duty.
- Delrin Barris/Leliana/Female Trevelyan
So I often request Barris with Leliana and Trev separately, and this is the round where they're all together. depending on Trevelyan's personality, class, and choices, so I'm open to almost any interpretation. Barris is a very interesting character and I'd love to see how he interacts with the Inquisitor, especially depending on alliance or conscription, and the Inquisitor's general beliefs. Mage Trev is also okay, and given her position she can claim to have power over him; it'd also be cool to see this shuffled mage/templar situation explored in all its subtleties. Then throw in Leliana and the journey she is on. People who look at the Chantry and the Templars and think that they could be better could hit it off, and how might their faith (or crises of faith) intersect with the existence of the Herald of Andraste? Does Trev plan to make Leliana Divine, does Barris become the Knight-Vigilant? How could Barris' presence influence Leliana down her hardened or unhardened path, along with Trevelyan's influence on her? Do their beliefs influence Trevelyan?
- Male Amell/Morrigan/Male Surana, Male or Female Mahariel/Morrigan/Velanna
Mahariel/Morrigan/Velanna is another of those in the field of "it intrigues me". How does Velanna react to a Dalish warden, more in-depth than the game touches on? Does the Warden share her anger, or are they more conciliatory? How does Mahariel try to guide Velanna as a Warden while trying to leave with the fact that Morrigan left them? Or, what if Velanna is never recruited but accompanies Mahariel in hope of finding her sister again? Is there immediate physical attraction? What if Mahariel feels attracted to Velanna but used to have a relationship with Morrigan that they never really moved on from, and now news of Morrigan reach Mahariel, who takes Velanna along the journey in Witch Hunt? With male Mahariel, this could also be interesting if the dark ritual was performed and Kieran were his son.
- Josephine Montilyet/Adorno Ciel Otranto/Female Trevelyan, Zevran Arainai/Josephine Montilyet/Adorno Ciel Otranto
The Zevran version of this also seems full of possibility. Is Zevran by chance helping or being helped by Otranto in his quest against the Crows? Is Otranto someone he had sex with one time? Maybe an unromanced Josie goes through with the marriage and then realises Zevran is in the picture... again, a very open prompt, lots of possibilities.
- Fenris/Female Hawke/Sebastian Vael, Fenris/Male Hawke/Isabela
This ship also has a very specific DNW. There is a banter between Seb and Fenris that goes like this:
Fenris: Terrible things do happen, Sebastian.
Sebastian: But what we see is only a piece of the puzzle. Only the Maker can see the greater picture.
Fenris: The guilty prosper. Innocents die.
Sebastian: And then they are brought to the side of the Maker. Their suffering ends. There is always a greater purpose.
Fenris: Danarius once killed a little boy to fuel blood magic that let him impress his fellow Senators at a party. What was the purpose there?
Sebastian: Perhaps it was witnessing that which will give you the strength to prevent it ever happening again.
Please do not in any way "prove" that Sebastian is right here. Suffering of people doesn't exist to give other people purpose and I don't want this concept endorsed in any way by the narrative.
As for Hawke/Fenris/Isabela, it's something that makes me particularly curious as a throuple. Isabela and Fenris are fwb, but Hawke gets interested in both of them? I don't have a preference on who first introduces the idea of all three being together. Or maybe it develops naturally, because all three are attracted and/or involved with the others in some manner? Do Isabela and Fenris develop any feelings for each other or do they remain friends who have sex and both love Hawke? Go wild.- Felix Alexius/Carver Hawke/Jean-Marc Stroud
- Greagoir/Irving/Wynne (Dragon Age)
I also don't believe it's possible to have a ship that is fully, entirely, and unquestionably consensual between a mage and a templar within the bounds of a Circle; the power imbalance makes it tricky, makes it complicated, and not in easily identifiable ways. I'm okay with reading that. This may count as dub-con for you, which is fine, and you can count it as "requested". Or the characters may not want to focus on the problem, nor have it acknowledged by POVs because they're used to it or it seems all right to them, maybe they want to concentrate on the happiness etc, which is also fine as long as the narrative knows what it's doing. I only don't wanna read explicit non-con, so whichever end of this spectrum you fall on, pleased keep in mind that DNW. More focus on pregnancy & related drama for Wynne is fine.
- Rowan Guerrin/Loghain Mac Tir/Maric Theirin
- Andraste/Hessarian/Vasilia, Corram/Jacen Guerrin/Marguerite Guerrin, Karolis/Servana de Montfort/Remi Vascal
For Andraste, Hessarian, and Vasilia... look. I'm not saying write a soapy version of history as presented in Isabela's sponsored book "Hessarian's Spear", but I would not be opposed to it. I would also love to read a serious version, though. Likely far less smutty, considering her circumstances, but what if Hessarian and Andraste have a long existential conversation together before she's put to death? What if, in addition to all the political reasons Hessarian would have had to make this move, he actually feels a little more than something for her, during the brief time they can talk? What if he's torn between his wife whom he loves very much and the prophet? Whichever way you take this, I will be super interested in reading it. I'd prefer a V relationship with Hessarian as the cusp.
For Karolis/Servana/Remi, their wiki is already quite the treasure of inspiration, so I'll just link that. Maybe something after Servana's change of mind, and how she must rebuild her relationship with him? Or the reasons why she betrayed Remi in the first place? Or something during their adventures? I would be interested in seeing a Tevinter Karolis.
For Corram/Jacen/Marguerite, the codex for their story is the best prompt I could provide. Just spin their story however you want, based on this codex. I would largely prefer a V relationship with Jacen as the cusp for this.

- Zevran Arainai/Rinna/Taliesen
- The Elegant Abbess/Marquis of Serault/The Wayward Bard
