Thank you for writing for me! If you are drawing, just make sure not to include those DNW that would apply to a visual medium and feel free to take inspiration from the prompts I offer. Illustrations or comics or portraits are all good. I very much enjoy some symbolism in art but don't feel bound by that.
Please never consider my prompts as "must do", they're there in case you don't have ideas or would like to see what precisely I like about these ships. They're guidelines to make your life easier, not tracks you can't deviate from!
Things I like!
I'm happiest when stories get into some in-depth character exploration. The plot of your story may be minimal (but if you really like plotty stuff, go for it, I love it too), it may be slice of life, small missing moments, I tend to not care as much as long as characterisation and interactions between people offer emotional depth. For smut, the same thing applies: hot action is good, but I like it better when there's something that happens, in an emotional sense, to the characters involved. This doesn't have to be romantic love by any means, I very much enjoy friends with benefits, conflicted feelings, and the like. For any less wholesome ships, I am totally fine if they don't live happily ever after.
I like: banters between characters, historical attention to details, politics, clashing points of view, complicated relationships, UST, bittersweet endings where not all things are solved neatly. Hope for the future despite everything, moral ambiguity, explored dysfunctionality, love shown through subtlety, love that is not confessed, regret, hard-won redemptions and the distrust that comes with it, power dynamics, characters that won't ever relent in their goals and who feel things strongly and are larger than life. I like the consensual but not safe or sane too, and if you feel like playing with darker themes emotional manipulation is great; loyalty and betrayal themes, rivalries, enmities, even those that aren't entirely solved, and especially those that take a long journey to come to an understanding. Themes of grief and mourning, trauma and recovery, fate, "the narrative", growing past hurts, but conversely also revenge quests, anger (especially towards gods, doom, the universe), generational and religious trauma, situations where everything is awful, sometimes even people, but the love is still there, deep and fraught and ride-or-die. Grey morality, unreliable points of view, deeply fucked up visions of the world and blind spots, ruthlessness, enthralling personalities, sacrificing things (and people) for one's goals, but also unrelenting, honest, down-to-earth goodness.
If you want a list of my smut likes that is as exhaustive as possible, you can find that here. This entry is very nsfw.
GENERAL DNW
AUs unless requested • No BIG canon divergencies unless requested. • Crack fic. • Focus on pregnancy or childbirth. • Focus on gender dysphoria. • Character bashing. I am happy with characters disagreeing passionately and having negative opinions of other characters, but don't make them into your mouthpiece. Also don't make fun of or belittle characters gratuitously, especially those of the requested ships. • Focus on scat, piss, vomit. I'm fine with mentions of unsanitary things, but no focus on it; as in, nothing that is deliberately trying to squick the reader out or is kinking on these fluids. (Blood is perfectly fine.) • Second person writing. • "Educational" fiction. Some of the characters in my requests can be objectively and patently wrong in their beliefs, we all know that, so please when writing a pov that's wrong/prejudiced in some manner don't insert any "and that, kids, was morally a bad thing" in the text. • No writing out of canon-compliant various -isms or -phobias. If a world area or time period is e.g. homophobic, I don't want the struggles of characters that have to live with it written away. However, if such things are not present in a given sitution, don't add them in for the sake of it. • A/B/O, genderswap, alien genitalia, m!preg/cis man pregnancy • Maggots, terminal illnesses, feederism and eating disorders, soulmates and hanahaki. • Daddy/mommy kink, de-aging of characters, ageplay and infantilisation, diapers, pet play, feet, enemas and urethral plays, insistence on how large a penis or breasts are, objectification. • Medical play and assorted medical kinks, as well as medical situations utilised to emphasise powerlessness or horror (such as unwilling experiments) unless requested or canon to the ships/story/character. • Underage and non-con between requested characters (dub-con is fine but only if requested or canon). Rape experiences or trauma are fine as background or in the story as long as they're not detailed or the focus (but never between nominated characters unless requested or canon). Any incest unless requested or canon (cousins okay). • Any variation of the word "come" spelled as "cum". • No X character is secretly a bastard of Y character unless requested or canon (relatedly, no non-canon cheating on a spouse). • Denial of structural power imbalances even/especially in positive and/or consensual relationships.
DRAGON AGE DNW
Secret half-elven parentage for characters for whom it isn't canon. • Half elves having obviously elven traits, the Dalish being (as a uniform group) perfectly accepting of city elves. • Unquestioned or endorsed national stereotypes on the part of the author (e.g. Fereldan people are always honest and good, Orlesians are always deceitful). • Stories set in Tevinter where all the "good guys" are foreign and all the "bad guys" are local. • Bashing Anora, fem!Cousland married to/shipped with Alistair, Alistair ruling alone. • The Chantry depicted as unquestionably right. • Focus on Cullen; any ships involving him and a mage, even in the background (templar/mage ships are fine and can fall under requested dub-con. I just don't want this one in particular). • Adoribull mentions. • Miriam/Hira as endgame. • Switching DA:I advisors with another character (e.g. Morrigan with Merrill) unless requested. • Preference for canon backgrounds for PCs and no canon-breaking PCs (e.g. the Inquisitor becomes Divine) unless requested. • If writing a PC, please give them a name (even the default is fine) and don't refer to them generically only by surname. I.e. make them an actual person.
Preferences and state of the world: What I really don't want to read is in my Dragon Age DNW, so you can consider other things free game. I'm purposely not adding notes on any of the PCs, since I find it personally really difficult to fulfill someone else's expectations with OCs and always go with my version of things; so feel 200% entitled to exercise the same freedom. I have a playthrough for almost every possible iteration of the worldstate, chances are that I have at least a game where your canon matches with mine.
OCs and adding characters: I love some OCs and to see the world populated. If you're writing a specific relationship and think it'd be great to throw in other people who would live and act around them, both original and canon, that sounds great to me. You're also free to mix requests if you want, if they lend themselves to it. Usually I just care that the nominated relationship takes centre stage, but the more the merrier. I only ask not to put emphasis on unrequested PC romances, though you're good to mention them as long as my DNWs are respected.
Prompts!
- Agent(s) of Fen'Harel & Gaius, Gaius & Solas
Gaius has taken on the fake identity of a Magister to act on behalf of the agents of Fen'Harel. How was he recruited, what is his past, his education and role before he takes on that task? We see so little of him before he dies, but he is very interesting. How does he abandon an allegiance for another, does he discover personal pride, is he good at being deceitful? Did he ever interact with Solas directly, even in disguise, and is his way of calling Solas master a "leftover" of his life as a slave? Feel free to make up OCs for the agents, who might be the bridge between Gaius and Solas' own wishes.
Sketch and Tug are an elf and a dwarf who serve as your companions in Leliana's Song DLC. Sketch appears in DA2 too, and as an agent of the Inquisition in some wartable missions. Tug dies in the DLC, and in this story you may decide he doesn't die, or set it before the DLC and end it tragically, or deal with the aftermath for Sketch. Just play with their relationship as you like, there seems to be devotion there, humour as well as mystery (we don't actually know their backgrounds and there's hints at their identities as "agents". Is Tug linked to the Titans? And Sketch, is he an agent of Fen'Harel or of Tevinter?) I'd like to see their tragic complexities explored.
I would love to see how Shianni interacts with Anora as queen and bann, how she negotiates the alienage's conditions, how she builds political strength. Does she win more rights for the alienage, with the passing of years? Do they build some kind of understanding, or is this relationship always a little strained? How is life at court for Shianni? Any worldstate is fine but Anora needs to be on the throne.
Any endgame and worldstate here is fine. Is this a Marquise Briala, not reconciled with Celene, or reconciled? Is Celene dead and Briala reflects on their past relationship? I would also love to see some court intrigue before everything goes to shit, and you're entirely free to lean into the toxic aspects of the relationship. In fact, I'm most interested in seeing how structural power dynamics and elf/human dynamics shape a relationship that could otherwise have been so great. No need to shy away from the alienage purge either, and happy ending not required; all is good in my book.
I loved both Flavius and Radonis the moment they appeared in the comics. Radonis seems a very ruthless man who however recognises the dangers of extremism and nationalism, who knows what kind of threat Tevinter faces with the Venatori and the Qunari both. He doesn't seem opposed to taking matters in his own hands, though always with a political mind (and he's the one Josephine suggests for an alliance). Flavius seems to be his personal slave; he shows pride and disdain for Tessa when she opens the door for him, and doesn't change tune until Marius is in the picture, switching around from scorn to obsequiousness; he finds the two outside of the country, having gone seemingly alone, spins a story about human sacrifice that they fall for, and then leads them to the little trap Radonis set up for them. He shows cunning, autonomy, and loyalty. But of course, he's still a slave. His position is really interesting, probably distorted in his mind as to how good it actually is, but Radonis trusts him. Maybe Flavius has been with him for a long time? Maybe he's Radonis' main agent? How did that loyalty come about? I would love to see it explored. I think Radonis is a first name (like "Empress Celene"), and for a surname I've used Medon in the past, but feel free to make something else up if you don't like that one. Please no heavy,
excessive shows of psychological abuse, and no physical abuse at all, though I'm okay with a relationship that is, at its core, unhealthy and unbalanced given the circumstances.
- Avexis & Maddox, Avexis & Cassandra Pentaghast
So Avexis and Maddox is something I saw in the tagset and which intrigued me. How could they meet and interact? Is this an AU where Avexis joins Maddox and Corypheus due to varied circumstances? Or an AU where Maddox doesn't manage to kill himself, and they meet within the Inquisition?
Avexis & Cassandra is more on the lines of "this poor girl, jesus", but I would love to see how they interact past the one brief appearance of Avexis at Haven. Is the option of bringing Avexis back from tranquility ever considered? How does Cassandra deal with her presence? Does Avexis go to Skyhold?
For Thrask and Orsino, how do they interact in the Gallows? How does Orsino feel about one of the Templars who oppose Meredith and are overall a better person? Does Thrask ever help Orsino? Would things had gone differently, had Orsino been involved in Thrask's conspiracy directly? I'd also be curious to see an AU where they both survive DA2 and meet again during the gap of time between the game and Inquisition. I'm interested in seeing how the structural power imbalance affects this relationship, though I'd like for it to remain overall positive.
- Deshanna Istimaethoriel Lavellan & Zathrian, Zathrian (Solo), Marethari Talas & Zathrian
I love Zathrian a lot. He's an angry man who won't let go of revenge and grief, but he also lived so many centuries thanks to the blood magic link that inevitably ties him to the Lady of the Forest. He's one of the few characters who achieved a lengthened life in modern Thedas. I would love to see this aspect of him explored, perhaps when the clans meet every 10 years in the past. He must have met and interacted with both Deshanna and Marethari, even before they became Keepers. What was their relationship like, before and/or after they were Keepers? What if the Warden agrees to help Zathrian and he survives? Could he meet with Deshanna again, or even Marethari if you can make it work? What of their conflicting opinions on magic, blood magic, or the Dalish's relationship with humans? The solo option is there also because I'd love to see him interact with his own clan, Lanaya and the others. So you can consider that tag a catch all for many other relationships.
Look, with how things currently are, they're both in Tevinter, and they've been tangentially occupied with the same thing (red lyrium idol vs Meredith now). They have such a different outlook towards their time as a slave in Tevinter. Fenris is on a lengthy revenge quest, Miriam says that you can't let that hate consume you and you need to let go of it so it doesn't hurt you any further. Both traumatised and manipulated, Miriam even by her own lover. It'd be
great to see them meet!
They have a very interesting relationship in DA2, also related to religion. I admit I strongly disagree with Sebastian on the reasons why Fenris witnessed other people's pain (no one's person's death or suffering
ever happens "because" someone else can stop it from happening to others), and I really welcome complicated relationships to religion here. Especially since I do believe Sebastian was himself manipulated by Elthina and religious authorities in his time of personal and emotional need. That said! It'd be super interesting to see how they relate to one another explored, either during DA2 or afterwards, were Fenris perhaps to accept the offer of working for Sebastian as a commander in Starkhaven.
- Fenris & Varania (Dragon Age)
Does Fenris ever see Varania again when he goes back to hunt down the members of House Danarius? How is her life as a tailor and as a Liberati elf? If Fenris kills her, how does he deal with it afterwards? Many ways this could go, and many points in time to explore. The different ways their trauma developed and shaped their lives and how it comes to a clash is something I'm very interested in. I also really don't think Danarius was planning to teach her at all; that was likely manipulation or coercion — but did Varania believe in it at all? Does she talk about it with Fenris in Kirkwall?
- Male Hawke/Merrill (Dragon Age), Female Hawke/Merrill (Dragon Age)
For Hawke/Merrill, I have a preference for mage-aligned Red Hawke, especially a mage themself, but don't feel compelled to follow that direction. I would love to see how Merrill and Hawke bond, maybe over discovering things? Magic? Does Hawke get angry on her behalf? I'm a little partial to the hc that Merrill is toppy in bed, if you'd like to incorporate it. Or maybe you can go over Merrill's personal quests (especially the very traumatic last one)? A lot to explore here, and I'm down with male or female Hawke, as you prefer.
- Female Hawke/Orsino (Dragon Age)
Listen I know this ship is probably entirely based on that one flirt about dancing naked under the moon and Orsino replying a little cheekily to it, but I admit I'm mostly here for the angst and Hawke getting to tap an older silver fox. Jokes aside though, Orsino is a very tragic character trying to work within the limits that the Circle and the nobility of Kirkwall have placed around him, all the while denying to himself that this is going to end with the mages' death no matter what. Plus, he entertained a correspondence with Quentin, who ended up killing Hawke's mom. So... honestly, go wild. I'm also open to Orsino surviving Act 3, you know, the whole "Varric made up the Harvester actually". That could be juicy too.
- Male Amell/Male Surana (Dragon Age)
I'm always super curious about multi-warden situations, and Amell and Surana could reasonably be both recruited if you bend things a little. Many ways to do this ship. In the Circle, before Duncan shows up? Both recruited and brought to Ostagar? One goes to Ostagar with the Circle division and the other is recruited as a Warden? One remains inside the tower and is saved later by the Warden, joining the party? I have a double warden worldstate with a friend in which both Amell and Surana are a little bit of an asshole, with Amell a more direct ad bitter person and Surana more manipulative and deceitful, but I'll be curious to see what to do with them yourself. (Feel free to entirely disregard this guideline.) Also, it hasn't been nominated, but I'm also down to add in a throuple with Morrigan here.
- Michel de Chevin/Male Lavellan
On the other hand, what if Michel remains with the Inquisition? He obviously hides his half-elven status for many valid reasons, but what if Lavellan heard of it from someone, perhaps Celene as part of "payment" for saving her? Or maybe Lavellan doesn't know at all, and that relationship must be navigated thinking he's a fully human chevalier. What about Michel's pov in this? How does he react to the power Lavellan is building? Maybe they spar together, if Lavellan is a warrior too? I'm okay with this relationship not having a happy ending or not even becoming explicit, if that is easier for you!
Cillian's story is just uniquely suited for a meeting with Abelas. It would be great if they could meet after Abelas has disappeared from Mythal's temple, and see how Abelas interacts with him given his "you're not my people" spiel. Would he ever teach Cillian, or see what Cillian has accomplished on his own in the way of arcane warriors? Would Abelas reveal who he is, or Cillian understand that something is up? How does it feel for him to meet an actual ancient elf? A lot of room for cool conversations, and I'm interested both in a platonic and in a less platonic take on this.
- Loghain Mac Tir & Female Tabris
Hashtag extra juicy. If Tabris saves Loghain at the Landsmeet even after discovering what was happening in the Alienage, why? Does she think it was Howe's doing, or does she try to justify a national hero that way? Does she prefer reparative justice? Another reason? How's their relationship like, during and after the Blight?
- Male Mahariel/Morrigan (Dragon Age)
My reason for requesting this is that it intrigues me. I won't lie I don't have many ideas except that I'd be curious to see Morrigan's view of the world interact with that of a Dalish who, regardless of personal inclinations, is likely very attached to the idea of having an in-group (a clan) who should be protected and who is likely going to be there for you and have your back. How could that clash with early game Morrigan? How does it develop towards Inquisition? How does Flemeth's identity come into it?
- Female Mahariel/Velanna (Dragon Age)
Another of those in the field of "it intrigues me". How does Velanna react to a Dalish warden, more in-depth than the game touches on? Does the Warden share her anger, or is she more conciliatory? How does Mahariel try to guide Velanna as a Warden? Or, what if Velanna is never recruited but accompanies Mahariel in hope of finding her sister again? Is there immediate physical attraction? So on and so forth.
- Rezaren Ammosine & Miriam & Neb
Love me some dead dove sometimes. I would love to see their relationship explored pre-Neb's death, and/or how it changed afterwards. Rezaren's mother was called Enrichetta according to dub credits, so you can use that if you want to include it. I'm interested in seeing the fucked up kind of affection that Rezaren felt, the power dynamic, how their perspectives differed. I'm not super into fluffy kidfic, so I'd ask to avoid it.
Alright what IF they met as agents of Inquisition, before or after Absolution? What if after the whole Meredith bs Miriam is back in Tevinter and teams up with Vaea for the Inquisition? I would be down to have the other members of the party included but I'm most curious to see these two interact. Excellent rogues sticking with one another for a mission, or more, and maybe working through their own past and personalities would be lovely to read.
- Feynriel & Solas (Dragon Age)
Feynriel and Solas could go in SO many directions. I admit I'm primarily interested in a Feynriel who goes to Tevinter and, by Trespasser, has become a citizen there. He could meet a Solas in disguise. How might he react to discovering that Solas is another Somniari? What about his mixed background, how does it interact with Solas' intentions? Does Solas reveal who is, or does Feynriel discover it thanks to his abilities? If you do manage to make Solas interact with th Dreamstalker version of Feynriel, his possessed self, and make it more than just a fight, that could be very interesting too. Or maybe it's a Feynriel who gets his Tranquility reverted, and finds a teacher in Fen'Harel? Pick whichever calls to you the most.
- Zevran Arainai & Loghain Mac Tir
I find their relationship incredibly hilarious. Their banters with a recruited Loghain are just so sarcastic and funny, and I'd love to see those plus the whole hiring an assassin and now fighting alongside him worked into a deeper story. What do they think of each other, and how does it develop? If Zevran is romancing the Warden, does that play a part in the relationship? What if the Warden sacrifices themselves?
- Zevran Arainai & Andarateia Cantori
Now, speaking of extremely juicy. Andarateia, Seventh Talon, versus Zevran and his revenge quest against the Crows. Does he ever try to kill Teia? Does he kill the master of House Cantori before Teia takes their place? After Giuli Arainai's death in the Tevinter Nights story and the invasion of Antiva, how does this play out? Does Zevran ever come to interact with Teia again? Did he know her beforehand, did they interact? Maybe there was a short fling, since they're both so flirty? What if this is a worldstate where the romanced Warden dies and Zev returns to assume leadership of the Crows/House Arainai? There's so much that can be done here, please take it wherever inspiration brings you.
- Zevran Arainai/Male Aeducan
The way you write this relationship can vary so much depending on the personality of the PC, but I do have a weakness for the concept of a fallen prince "enlisting" the help of a professional assassin. How would that look like? How does the relationship shape up? I'm not necessarily looking for fluffy here, so you're really welcome to do whatever you enjoy the most for this potential dynamic.
